Final Reflection

I have grown more confident with using technology while taking this course. I have also learned about new sites and tools I can use in my classroom. Yesterday, I was offered my first teaching position. This class has given me so many ideas on ways to use technology with my fourth graders. I am excited to get started in my classroom and use what I have learned from this course. I can also show what I learned to my colleagues and help them use them in their classroom as well. Overall after taking the course I feel much more confident to teach using technology.

Digital footprint

My digital footprint is pretty neutral. When you google my name you can see my Facebook and any pages where I have commented on something. I have always tried to be cautious about what I do online because I knew that I was going into teaching and was going to be a role model for children. To make my footprint a positive example I can make sure that I am commenting respectfully and not posting things that aren't appropriate for people of all ages. We as teachers need to make sure we teach our students that everything they post online can be seen forever. We need to teach them that if they don't want it seen they don't need to post it or view it. We also need to make sure they know that we want the best for them and need to make sure they are not doing something that could create a dangerous situation. We need to make sure we aren't just sitting down at our desk while the students are on the IPADs or laptops, we need to be walking around and checking that they are on the appropriate sites.

Resource reflection

To make my curated resources a regular part of my planning I would do several things. I would keep them in a close spot on my desk so that when I am doing my planning I can look through them to find ones that work for the lesson. I would also have a spot in the classroom where I could post a couple resources a week for students to look at and give me their input as to if they like the source or if it is boring. I would also have the students help me find sources if I don't have any for a lesson.

Reflection #4

I would incorporate mastery into my classroom to increase motivation. I would do this offering various rewards when my students master a topic. If they mastered their multiplication facts they would be rewarded with a certificate that says they have mastered their multiplication facts along with moving them on to try and master division facts. If my students mastered their spelling words each week they would get a sticker on their spelling chart followed by lunch with the teacher once they mastered 8 weeks of spelling words.

Reflection #3

Overall, I think in each area I am emerging. It is something I am not used to and I am constantly learning how to use technology in my classroom. I think by the next grading period I can be more comfortable with technology and more able to,use it in my classroom. I think that by the next grading period I will be using more technology and trying new things.to make this growth happen I have to start using technology now and continue using it more and more. I also will have to get my students more comfortable with the technology.

Reflection #2

I can't change my class/course policies much since I teach an organized program. However,  I could do small changes to it such as when we are working on math, I could have them practice math facts on their IPAD, that way they are using the technology that they are familiar with. I could also have them search for pictures on google from their IPADs when we are working with known nouns. During the known noun activity they are given something that is familiar, such as their front door. They are asked to describe it using 12 structure words: what, where, when, size, shape, color, mood, perspective, number, sound, background, etc. I am more than willing to try these things with my groups because they enjoy using their IPADs and they can show me quickly that they have mastered the concept.

Reflection #1

On the rubric I fall under the evolving category. I'm in the exceptional category in that I have very few errors in my response. I'm effective in that I was able to incorporate some professional, personal experiences and information from the documents given to us. I'm evolving in using information in my responses. I'm emerging in that I'm still learning about blending technology in the classroom. In my peer responses I would say I'm emerging because I'm still learning about blending technology in the classroom.
